By plane[edit]
International flights go directly to Samana International Airport, El Catey (AZS). While the airport, El Catey is the closest airport to Las Terrenas many times visitors are unable to take advantage of this airport. Either the cost of a ticket is too high or there is trouble finding a good flight. This airport works best for those traveling from Canada and perhaps those from Europe that have a layover in Canada. Because of this, many visitors fly into the Santo Domingo Airport, Las Americas (SDQ), and take the straight shot up the new highway to get to Las Terrenes (about 2 hrs by car). Check and compare prices for tickets and flight times to figure out which airport will be the best for you. If it is too cosltly or to many layovers to fly into El Catey (AZS) don’t become discouraged, check the Las Americas Airport in (SDQ) in Santo Domingo.
Buses Guagua (buses) routes exist from Santo Domingo (express guagua), Sanchez, and Samana. I The express guagua to and from Santo Domingo takes 2.5h if there is no traffic.
